Parish Council Meeting of 17th March 2016
The Parish Council meeting on 17 March 2016 was attended by Councillors Brian Frith, Beverley Humphreys, Andrew Coleman, Graham Gale and Dawn Welsby. Also present were the clerk and nine members of the public.
Some of the main items discussed at the meeting are mentioned here. Full minutes of the meeting are available here in draft form until agreed by the Council at the next meeting (21 April 2016).
South Norfolk Council no longer send out copies of paper plans, so the parish council display them on the television screen at the village hall, during the meeting, in order that both Councillors and members of the public can clearly see what is being discussed. This month’s plans were:
- 2016 / 0457 – Tawny Farm, Station Rd – Variation of Condition 2 of planning consent 2013 / 0916 – Changes to external appearance and finishes – No objections,
- 2016 / 0528 – Agricultural buildings at Nivelle Farm, Station Rd – change of use of redundant agricultural building group to provide four individual holiday let units – No objections

Please note that both defibrillators are installed and available for use if needed. One is in the telephone box at the bottom of Mill Road and the other is in the telephone box near St Edmunds Church.
The parish council still has one vacancy for a councillor. This is a voluntary role and would suit anyone with an interest in the community and a wish to represent the views of people living in the village. The level of commitment required is normally monthly attendance at the parish council meeting, held on the third Thursday of every month, as well as some time to read e-mails and information sent in between meetings. The parish council sometimes hold other community events, such as the forthcoming litter pick on 2 April and Councillors’ presence at events like these is appreciated but not compulsory. No specific experience is necessary as training can be provided. Please do get in touch with the clerk if you are interested, even if you would just like an informal chat about the role, in the first instance
Next month, the annual parish meeting will be taking place, beginning at 7pm on Thursday 21 April. Village clubs and groups come together at this meeting to report on what they have been doing during the year and any significant achievements. Members of the public are welcome to attend. This will be followed, usually at around 8pm, by the normal parish council meeting. The agenda will be published about a week before the meeting, but if you have any matters to bring to the attention of the Parish Council in the meantime, please contact the clerk, Anne Rayner, on 01508 570700 or by email .
