Parish Council Meeting of 18th February 2016
The Parish Council meeting on 18th February 2016 was attended by Councillors Brian Frith, Beverley Humphreys, Gilly Barnes, Andrew Coleman, Graham Gale, Dawn Welsby and Clerk Anne Rayner. Also present were four members of the public.
Some of the main items discussed at the meeting are mentioned here. Full minutes of the meeting are available here in draft form until agreed by the Council at the next meeting (17 March 2016).
The following planning applications were discussed:
- 2016 / 0236 - Old Court Farm, Wacton Rd – Variation of conditions to change existing hedge to a fence – The plans were discussed and Councillors raised no objections.
- 2016 / 0269 – Old Sale Yard, Station Rd – Retrospective permission to change boundary treatment on east side to timber fence – Again, Councillors raised no objections.
- 2016 / 0276 – Northfield House, Northfield Rd – Alterations and extension to dwelling and alterations to vehicular access – These plans were discussed. Most of the changes are to the rear of the property and there does not appear to be any impact on neighbouring properties. Councillors therefore had no objections.
A second defibrillator will shortly be installed in the old telephone box on Long Stratton Rd near St Edmunds Church. The Community Heartbeat Trust have also agreed to replace our existing machine (in the phone box on Mill Road) at no additional cost, in order that both machines in the village are the same model. Information on training sessions will follow in due course. The parish council would like to thank Keith Fromings and Julia Hill for all the time and work they have put into this project.
The parish council currently has one vacancy for a councillor. If you have an interest in local issues and are willing to represent your community, please contact the clerk for further information. This is a voluntary role and training can be provided.
The next South Norfolk Older People’s Forum will be held at the South Norfolk Council offices in Long Stratton on Wednesday 16 March, commencing at 10am. Topics for discussion will be: The GP and Age UK advice project, advice on hearing services and an update on transport services in South Norfolk. If you would like to go but do not have transport, it may be possible to arrange transport for you by calling Ann Baker on 01508 481819 (by 8 March, at the latest). The new parish council website will also be used as a means of passing information on from South Norfolk Council and Norfolk County Council, so please do visit forncettparishcouncil.norfolkparishes.gov.uk. Items like this will normally be shown under the “news” tab.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Thursday 17th March 2016 at 7.30pm. The agenda will be published about a week before the meeting, but if you have any matters to bring to the attention of the Parish Council in the meantime, please contact the clerk, Anne Rayner, on 01508 570700 or by email
