Parish Council Meeting of 18th December 2014
The Parish Council meeting on 18th December 2014 was attended by Councillors Brian Frith, Beverley Humphreys, Claire Jordan, Jackie Bowers, David Peacock and Clerk Anne Rayner. Also present were six members of the public, and District Councillor Bob McClenning.
Some of the main items discussed at the meeting are mentioned here. Full minutes of the meeting will be available here when published - in draft form until agreed by the Council at the next meeting (15th January 2015).
The following planning applications were discussed:
- 2014/2378: Application to remove conditions restricting heights of planting and fencing on the corner at the former 'Fourways' site at 'The Jolly Farmers' crossroads: Councillors opposed this application, having the unanimous opinion that the conditions were necessary to ensure the best view possible for traffic entering and leaving the junction.
- 2014/2546: The Corals, Long Stratton Road; Amendment to previously approved application for additional bedroom – recommended for approval.
There was discussion of the progress with work on the former CPS site: complaints had been made that there was no on-site parking for contractors and both the authorised access and the former emergency access (which was not deemed safe by Norfolk Highways) were being used, deposting large amounts of mud on the road. South Norfolk Council were investigating,
The Parish Council is considering making a bid for 'Parish Partnership' funding which would enable further road safety improvements near the school and the purchase of a moveable 'speed awareness' sign.
It was decided that the precept for 2015/16 would remain the same as in 2014/15 (£12000), allowing for the grants to Village Hall and Forncett Flyer to continue and provide sufficient reserves to fund the road safety improvements mentioned above if the application was successful.
It was noted that the roadworks at Forncett End were now complete (on schedule); hopefully the new drainage system will eliminate the problems which have been evident for many years, and the new path is certainly a huge improvement. An email from the Highway Engineer had said that damage to verges on 'diversion routes' would hopefully be repaired in the New Year.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Thursday 15th January 2015 at 7.30pm. The agenda will be published about a week before the meeting, but if you have any matters to bring to the attention of the Parish Council in the meantime, please contact the clerk, Anne Rayner, on 01508 570700 or by email
