The Parish Council meeting on 17th October was attended by Councillors Brian Frith, Beverley Humphreys, Claire Jordan, Jackie Bowers and Terry Henderson. Also present were District Councillor Bob McClenning, two guests and four members of the public.
Some of the main items discussed at the meeting are mentioned here. Full minutes of the meeting are available here Minutes 2013 October 17th - in draft form until agreed by the Council at the next meeting (21st November).
The following planning Applications were discussed:
2013/1741 – Retrospective application for replacement windows at The Poplars, 6 Bentley Road was recommended for approval.
Councillor John Pennell from Bunwell Parish Council and Derek Allnutt, Bunwell resident, attended the meeting as guests to talk about the possibility of purchasing and installing a defibrillator at a mutually convenient point, in order that it could be accessed by residents from both villages. The parish council agreed to work with Bunwell on a joint application for funding. If this is successful, it is hoped that some residents would be willing to undertake training in the use of the defibrillator with the intention of a pyramid system being set in place, should the need arise.
Goff Petroleum have confirmed that the old CPS site has been sold to Bennett Homes, for development.
The replacement for the grit bin stolen from Aslacton Road has been received. This will be in place in time for the first delivery of grit from Norfolk County Council.
Norfolk County Council Highways department have recently been in the village, cutting back some footpaths. If you know of a footpath which is obstructed or overgrown, or are aware of other problems that may be dealt with by the highways department ( blocked ditches, pot holes ) please bring them to the attention of the clerk and they can be added to our list of requests. Assurances have also been received from the landowner responsible for the public footpath from the end of West Road to the B1113 that steps will be taken to return this to its former condition.
The Vehicle Activated Sign purchased by the parish council under the Norfolk County Council “working with parish councils” scheme should be in place on Mill Road within the next few weeks. The parish council hopes this will make this road and the junction at the bottom a safer place.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Thursday November 21st 2013 starting at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall. The agenda will be published about a week before the meeting, but if you have any matters to bring to the attention of the Parish Council in the meantime, please contact the Clerk, Anne Rayner, on 01508 570700 or by email .
