Parish Council Meeting of 19th June 2014

Written by Anne Rayner.

The Parish Council meeting on 19th June 2014 was attended by Councillors Brian Frith, Beverley Humphreys and Claire Jordan.  Also present were seven members of the public.

Some of the main items discussed at the meeting are mentioned here. Full minutes of the meeting will be available here when published - in draft form until agreed by the Council at the next meeting (17th July 2014).

The following planning applications were discussed:

  •  2014/0686: Orchard House, Wash Lane, Forncett St P – demolish existing nissan hut and erect barn (previously approved 1998/0280/F).Councillors recommended this for approval in principle, although noted that the previous permission was granted on the basis that the barn would be for commercial use but the new application is for domestic use.
  • 2014/0944: Thurston Cottage, Tabernacle Lane, Forncett St. P – Proposed first floor extension. Following discussion, this was recommended for approval.
  • 2013/1379: Tasway House, Aslacton Rd, Forncett St P – Conversion of outbuildings and garage – Following discussion, it was noted that the plans seemed to show inconsistencies between the windows shown on the South East road view and the floor plan. If the windows are as shown in the South East road view, then Councillors previous concerns regarding overlooking would stand.
  • 2014/1105 : Mill Cottage, Bentley Rd, Forncett St P – Sub division of garden and erection of detached house and garage. This application had previously been listed for discussion but had then been withdrawn by the applicant. These are revised plans for one house, rather than the original two. Councillors noted that the new plans seemed to take into account the previous objections raised by the Landscape Officer at South Norfolk Council. Whilst Councillors still noted some concerns regarding general overdevelopment of the site and the width of the access, there were no further objections.

Some members of the public voiced their concerns at the meeting regarding the poor standard of maintenance and access of some of the footpaths in the village. Some are currently impassable. Whilst the Parish Council is taking whatever steps possible to improve the situation, parishioners are encouraged to report problems relating to public rights of way at https://online.norfolk.gov.uk/highways/ If you use this online reporting facility you will be given a reference number when you submit the details. Please make a note of this and use it in your contact with the Parish Council, if the problem is not rectified.

Finally, the Parish Council would like to pass their congratulations on to the Forncett Flyers village games team who have again been successful in reaching the final of the village games, to be held at the UEA on 13th July. Thanks to everyone who gives up their time to make this a success.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Thursday 17th July 2014 starting at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.  The agenda will be published about a week before the meeting, but if you have any matters to bring to the attention of the Parish Council in the meantime, please contact the clerk, Anne Rayner, on 01508 570700 or by email  .
